Dear Kanisa,
You've changed: You wear masks to hide yourself, you became something your not. I can't find you because you look like everyone else. You used to be bold and stand out now you fear stepping on toes. You've adapted the club life, your new meetings are in bars. You are so focused on your outward appearance I can't see the beauty of your heart anymore. You let your identity go and your more concerned with what others think of you than what you know to be true. I used to come to you for guidance, I used to love serving with you. You have changed......
Stop trying to be something your not. Stop trying to please everyone, don't you know that's impossible. Be true to who you are and exceed in that. Show your true identity and believe in that. People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care. I fell in love with you because of your beautiful heart not how you look on the outside. I want to experience the true love that I have heard about. I want to be accepted by you, not to be stereotyped. I want to know your smell, I want to know your voice, I want to know your embrace. I want to grow and mature with you, disciple me.
I want you....no....I need you to take off that mask and to be who you are meant to be. You're the only one that can accept me and love me. I don't want just a golden nugget, I don't want to just feel happy when I'm in your presence, I can do that in the mall, I can do that in a cafe, I can do that in a restaurant, I can do that with my friends. I need to know if I am lost you will seek me out and find me. If I am down will you pray for me. I want to experience your love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, gentleness, self-control and faithfulness. Stay faithful to your purpose.
Know this Kanisa, I love you for who you are and not what can look like. Stop trying to be something your not. Be true to your identity: as Christ loved you please love me.
Forever yours,
A Broken Heart
Ps. Kanisa means Church in Swahili
Great letter. I agree. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI read this from Bottom to Top. I don't know why I just did, as I read, it unfolded another mystery of pain in the eyes of God. That was nice, really nice Stumbling unto this was a sweet expression... Seeing the heart of God through his people is something quite amazing.
