Time is an interesting concept. When you're bored, it slows down; when you're having fun, it speeds up (at least you think it does). A year can go by just like that, and some days seem to drag an eternity.
Well I have experienced it all here in Los Angeles. It has been exactly seventy-six days since my arrival and it has felt like I've lived here for years. With everyday bringing a new challenge or multiple challenges, my time is altered. I have to refocus my energy and thought daily in order to prioritize and conquer my future goals. For instance, I have to remember that getting a job is my first step to becoming and Actor. I want to book a commercial so bad, I forget that I need income to pay the bills.
It has not been easy, but when I look back I realize it has not been too bad either. Having to go through the experience of unemployment, no finances, criticism, discouragement....etc stretches any individual. Change is not always smooth and a journey always has ups and downs. What we want in life requires sacrifices and sacrifices require our best.
None the less, seventy-six days into this new chapter and God has definitely blessed me. With hard work I have landed my first job in California as a Teller for Wells Fargo. I started training last week and while it is not my ideal job I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to work. Also, I am fortunate enough to have my first commercial agent with KSR Talent, As we are working through the first steps I'm excited to start auditioning for commercials and commercial print. I cannot believe only 2 1/2 months later my journey is launching off.
Aside from my new agent and a new job many other things have been happening. Ministry opportunities are growing with Naima Lett as I part take in her Bible Study weekly. Honestly, I thought I was going to take a 'break' from doing ministry, but seems like I can't function with out it. God has given me a heart for his word and trying to take a 'break' from it is unrealistic, I would dry out and die out. Yesterday, while engaging in conversation at the Bible Study I was offered a position to teach dance at a new studio. With nervousness I answered yes, because I am not at the level to teach dance yet, but I know I can be with hard work. Some of you may know from my Facebook and Twitter updates, last month I danced at the CTA (Consuming The Arts) Theatre Co. and I was asked to continue dancing for them. My next show is on January 6th and 7th and it will be focused around the theme of "Visions and Visionaries." I will soon have footage from my last performance, so keep your eyes open.
Honestly, I have been in awe of what God is doing. He is the one opening and closing doors and all I am doing is remaining obedient. Again, it has not been easy and your support has made all the difference at this time.
This is still only the beginning. As I take little steps in preparation for my future I anticipate many failures and victories, but most importantly I anticipate growth.
I do hope my story fits as encouragement in your life. Here are the blog posts in order of my Journey
1. Journey to LA
